The Spiritual

We Christians habitually talk about faith. But if someone asks us what faith is, we find the

question very difficult to answer. Likewise, it is very difficult to answer the question of what

spirit is. What is a spiritual blessing? What is the spiritual? To answer this question, you

should know what spirit is. We learn about spirit from our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said in John 6:63, “The Holy Spirit gives life; the words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.” Jesus’ saying does not answer all about the question of what spirit is. But it gives us something vital in answering the question of what spirit is. Jesus said that the words that Jesus has spoken to us are spirit. And he said this spirit gives life. In other words, the words of Jesus Christ are spirit and this spirit gives life. Then the spiritual is of the words of Jesus Christ. The words of Jesus Christ are the Bible. Then the spiritual means the biblical. Spirit is the Bible and the spiritual is the biblical. And the Holy Spirit conveys life to us through the Bible. The food of our spirit is the Bible, the words of Jesus Christ. Our spirit should be regularly fed with the words of Jesus Christ-spirit or the biblical. Therefore, a sermon is the essential and vital source of the spiritual energy of the church, the local body of Jesus Christ. Bible study is necessary for strengthening the body of Jesus Christ, the local church body. What is a spiritual blessing? A spiritual blessing is the blessing that results in from Bible study. If you want to be blessed, you should read, study, memorize and meditate on the Bible day and night. Therefore, the Bible says in Psalm 1-6, “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the course of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. (2) But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. (3) He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. (4) Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. (5) Therefore, the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. (6) For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.” Jesus said in John 15:7-8, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given to you. (8) This is to my Father’s glory that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my children.” The apostle John said in I John 3:21-22, “Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God (22) and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.” The apostle John said in First John 5:14-15, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. (15) And if we know that he hears us- whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him.”
